Metadata Group
The purpose of the Metadata Group is to examine commonalities across all the HEP experiments' metadata handling,
- at the technology level,
- at the interface level,
- and at the schema level.
The final aim of the group will be to ensure that the metadata services are deployed as much as possible using common technologies (ideally industry standard technologies), that they are built using existing common interfaces so that the products are interchangeable, and that they use common schema for problems that are common across the experiments (e.g. data product navigation). The group will work within the ARDA process, together with the EGEE and LCG projects.
The group has identifed the following areas of interest:
Use Cases
Services
Deployment Architectures
Query Languages and Interfaces
Tools
Monitoring
Security
Members of the group have presented several talks and papers on these issues.
Meetings and Communication
The Metadata group is coordinated by Paul Millar, and (typically) meets on the last Tuesday of the month (8:30 CDT/14:30 BST/15:30 CET). Interested parties should contact Paul.
The Metadata Group maintains a mailing list. If you'd like to be added to it, contact Paul Millar, or you can subscribe yourself. In addition, the mailing list archive is available.
The group also has a publicly readable Wiki page. (An account is required to write to the Wiki - contact Paul Millar).
