GridPP at the EGEE launch conference

Tue 27 Apr 2004

The EU's Enabling Grids for E-science in Europe (EGEE) project was launched last week with its opening conference in Cork. The UK was well represented by more than twenty members of GridPP. Michael Ahern, Irish Minister of Trade and Commerce, welcomed participants, who then attended four days of working groups and plenary sessions. A full programme can be found at http://public.eu-egee.org/conferences/kickoff/.

GridPP held a stand at the conference, displaying posters (see http://www.gridpp.ac.uk/posters/) and a demonstration showing the progress of jobs on the LCG grid. Pictures of the GridPP stand are below. It attracted lots of attention, with groups from as far apart as Ireland and Russia expressing interest in using the demonstration.

The next EGEE conference will take place 21-26 November 2004 in the Netherlands.
